We were stoked to discover that two of our Pinots have been recommended by WineNZ Magazine following their autumn 2016 tasting. The judges were Simon Nash MW, Ant MacKenzie, and Rod Easthope.
Judges comments on our Hãhã 2014 Marlborough Reserve Pinot Noir: Simon loved the nice bright, dark ruby colour. It was restrained, with mushroom. It was sound with good fruit, quite elegant, balanced with good acids and grip. Mineral and graphite came through for Ant, with pure dark fruits, but an attacking palate – there was tannin and pencil lead. Rod considered this well-balanced wine as smokey, with cherry, an intense fruit core and fine chalky tannins.
Judges comments on our Hãhã 2015 Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris: This wine was round, with a slightly pewter look to the colour, said Simon. It was quite soft, with notes of pear. Rod had a hint of rose florals and talc. There was a nice palate, he said, with fruit and chalk. Ant found it savoury, yeasty, with eggy notes and a reasonably good balance.
Thanks WineNZ, glad you enjoyed them!
